Title

Using MSI/MSIEXEC Command With Symantec Altiris

Product

PASSPORT PC to Host

Emulation Types

TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60

Issue

I am attempting to perform a silent install with Symantec Altiris using the command below, as documented in the MSI Package knowledge base article:

msiexec.exe /qn /i "PC2H_2010-514.msi" ALLUSERS=1 LICENSE="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" USERDATADIR=""

While executing the above command with Symantec Altiris, the installation fails and PASSPORT does not install. However, no error messages are displayed to indicate what the problem might be. The same command works fine from the Windows®Run command line. How can this be done from Symantec Altiris?

Solution

Change the command line parameters to the following:

msiexec.exe /qn /i "PC2H_2010-514.msi" LICENSE="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" ALLUSERS=1 USERDATADIR=""

Notice the ALLUSERS parameter is now placed after the LICENSE parameter.
