2010 - Zephyr's Year at a Glance

With the end of our 25th year in business and the holiday season fast approaching, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind our customers and product evaluators old and new about a few of the activities and developments undertaken in 2010.

PASSPORT 2010 Releases

We introduced 2010 versions of our popular and secure PASSPORT PASSPORT  PC TO HOST and PASSPORT WEB TO HOST terminal emulation products. These maintenance versions were introduced primarily for various certification purposes, but also in preparation for the introduction of PASSPORT, now well underway for an early 2011 release.

Enterprise Cloud Computing &Virtualization

With these environments taking a hold of most organizations, we wanted to be sure that PASSPORT products function well in today's virtualization worlds, like Citrix XenApp 6, VMware and App-V.  PASSPORT products have been fully tested, certified (where available) and are now fully supported by Zephyr when deployed in these environments.

Simplified License Management

License management of terminal emulation, a challenge facing most large enterprises, especially in the virtualized and cloud computing environments, has been simplified through the Zephyr Enterprise License Program (ELP). The Zephyr ELP, which lets organizations install and deploy PASSPORT software from every server, desktop or laptop, virtual or otherwise, gives management enormous freedom and little restriction on the licensing and use of Zephyr technology.

Easier Migration

Whilst we have always been able to quickly help prospective customers migrate from existing terminal emulators, we have released a new self-service migration wizard that automatically converts custom end user configuration settings during installation. Remember, we also offer free macro conversion as well as the ability to use existing screen scraping applications making migration to Windows 7 based terminal emulation even easier.

Added Enhancements

Listening to our customers, we improved and added a list of enhancements to the PASSPORT terminal emulation products, including items such as custom screen sizes, modifications to the OIA and security changes, for example working with SSL VPN appliances, secure smartcards and single enterprise signon

.NET /Web-based Mainframe Application Integration

The PASSPORT APIs (HLLAPI, Object and Macro) have always been available for terminal emulation-based 3270 integration projects. Beyond terminal emulators, PASSPORT Host Integration Objects lets developers create server or client-based integration solutions that do not require terminal emulation. Such applications may be developed using .NET or Eclipse SWT. Two papers were published as guides for the use of PASSPORT Host Integration Objects using either Windows 2008 Server or Windows 7 Client.

Zephyr continues to grow and expand, gaining new customers across the globe. 2010 marks our most successful year ever, so we would like to thank all of our customers for their helpful comments and continued support.
