iseries accessZephyr's PASSPORT for iSeries Access: Trial Download

Zephyr's PASSPORT provides high quality, reliable iSeries access from Windows desktops. iSeries access using PASSPORT is extremely cost effective. Zephyr provides a subscription based licensing program that reduces your acquisition cost and maintenance cost significantly. This makes upgrading from other 5250 emulation clients a very attractive proposition.

As one of the market's very first IP-based connectivity solutions, the mature, feature-rich package is an ideal replacement for older desktop-based emulators, including Attachmate® EXTRA!®, IBM Personal Communications, NetManage® Rumba® and WRQ® Reflection®. With its competitive pricing and licensing options, you can save 50% to 75% on the amount of money you would normally spend for host access.

Deployment of PASSPORT for iSeries Access

There are actually two versions of PASSPORT that can be used for 5250 iSeries access. Each product uses a different method of deployment.

PASSPORT PC TO HOST® provides desktop-based iSeries access. This product is similar to other desktop Windows programs. PASSPORT 5250 emulation is installed with a Windows setup program. It can also be deployed using SMS, MSI or deployed from a Citrix terminal server.

PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® provides web-based iSeries access deployed from a web server. The 5250 emulation is installed on a web server and provides an administrator program for centralized configuration and administration. All software and configuration files reside on the web server. When the iSeries access program is run, an ActiveX applet is downloaded from the web server to the client desktop and run inside of Internet Explorer. The ActiveX component is only downloaded the first time a session is launched, or whenever the server version of the ActiveX component changes to a newer version. The 5250 emulation running inside Internet Explorer makes a direct 5250 or TN5250E connection to the IBM iSeries (iSeries).
