Zephyr's PASSPORT: Alternative to IBM Personal Communications® 3270
As you migrate to Windows 7, don't overpay for advanced PC or Web-to-Host terminal emulation. The mature, feature-rich PASSPORT Web to Host® package is an ideal alternative to incumbent emulators, including IBM Personal Communications®.
For many, host connectivity is a core PC application. But given today's economy and the fact that many organizations are transitioning to Web-to-Host platforms for terminal emulation, a growing number of IBM customers are actively looking for a high-quality, low-cost replacement alternative to IBM Personal Communications 3270.

Leverage Existing IBM Personal Communications 3270 Resources
Today's PASSPORT technology - one of the first premium emulation suites for IP - offers both desktop and browser-based 3270 and FTP clients. What's more, with PASSPORT, you can reuse many critical IBM Personal Communications 3270 API applications without any modifications.
HLLAPI, Scripting and Macros
Most IBM Personal Communications 3270 users have custom or third party applications that use the industry-standard HLLAPI (High Level Language Application Programming Interface) to extract and pass data to the host session. If youve developed HLLAPI code using Visual C or Visual Basic, it will likely work with PASSPORT without any modification.
Many IBM Personal Communications 3270 users have developed scripts to automate routine host access functions, while Network administrators have recorded log-on macros to help users launch their host access session(s). PASSPORT supports the use of VBScript for macro development, which can be used to enhance end user productivity.
IBM Personal Communications 3270 User Preferences
PASSPORT ships with IBM Personal Communications 3270 keyboard layouts, but also offers flexible customization options, including an easily customizable keyboard map that can be configured and saved as part of a standard session profile for users. Its very important to duplicate these user interfaces for a successful transition.
