Title

Pasting Column of Data From Microsoft Excel to a VT Session

Product

PASSPORT PC to Host

Emulation Types

VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60

Issue

I would like to copy a column of data from a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet (fig. 1.2) and paste it into our host screen as shown in fig. 1.1. In our previous terminal emulator, we could paste a column of spreadsheet data into an empty field on the host screen. Each cell would paste-and-return so that the next spreadsheet field would automatically populate the waiting empty field until all 200 or so rows were input into the screen. However, PASSPORT does not behave this way requiring us to modify our spreadsheet, shown in fig. 1.3. Is there a way to make PASSPORT accept a column of data from the spreadsheet so that each field is entered followed by a return key?

Solution

Rocket Software has released a patch for PASSPORT PC to Host 2010-514 to ensure the handling of copy/paste of multi-cell values from Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets.

Note: once this patch has been applied, you will be able to copy/paste the data shown in fig. 1.2 to your host screen.

Download the Patch

How to Apply the Patch:

1. Copy Passport.exe to the directory where PASSPORT PC to Host is installed. The default directory is:

   C:\Program Files\PASSPORT\
