Issue
How can PASSPORT be configured to prevent the keyboard from locking when X SYSTEM conditions are displayed in the OIA (Operator Information Area)?
Solution
For PASSPORT PC to Host or Web to Host Client:
- Start a PASSPORT TN3270 or TN5250 session.
- Choose the Options®TN3270 or Options®TN5250 menu command.
- Enable the Automatically Unlock Keyboard and Reset X SYSTEM option:
- Click OK to save.
For PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator:
- Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator application.
- Open an existing or create a new Attribute Profile by right-clicking and choosing New.
- Choose the TN3270 or TN5250 tab.
- Make sure the Automatically Unlock Keyboard and Reset X SYSTEM option is enabled:
- Click OK to save.
- Open the TN3270 or TN5250 session profile.
- Select the Options tab.
- Make sure the attribute profile configured above is highlighted then click OK to save or Connect to test.

This normally occurs when the IBM Host application does not send the Keyboard Unlock command to PASSPORT. This rarely happens, but when it does, it is usually with very old mainframe programs, and with CICS.
