Issue

How do I enter alpha characters into the numeric field in PASSPORT?  Is there an option that I have to enable?

Solution

This can be done by going to the Options->TN3270 menu and disabling the option Numeric Field Checking.  Follow the steps below:

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

1. Start a PASSPORT session.
2. Select TN3270 from the Options menu.
3. Uncheck the option Numeric Field Checking.

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

From the Client:

Instructions are the same as those for PASSPORT PC to Host

From the Administrator:

1. Start a PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator program.
2. Expand the 3270 Display icon.
3. Right-click on Attributes and select New.
4. Enter a new Attribute Profile name.
5. Click on the TN3270 tab and un-check the Numeric Field Checking option.
6. Click OK to save.
7. Open the appropriate 3270 session profile.
8. Go to the Options tab and assign this attribute profile to the session.
9. Click Connect to save and test.

More Information

• Numeric Field Checking, when enabled, this function allows only the numbers "0" through "9", the "+", the "-", the "." and the "," characters to be entered into TN3270 fields that are marked as numeric entry fields. "NUM" is displayed in the Operator Information Area (OIA) whenever the cursor is positioned on a numeric field.

• You will receive an X Num message on the OIA line when attempting to overwrite existing numeric values with alpha characters.
