Issue

How do I configure PASSPORT to use Keep Alive?

Solution

Keep Alive is an optional feature available in PASSPORT. With this option enabled, PASSPORT will send a periodic timing signal to the gateway or mainframe to ensure that the connection is not idle long enough to be terminated. This feature can also be used to keep an internet connection "alive".

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

  1. Start a PASSPORT session.
  2. With your session disconnected, select Setup from the Communication menu.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Enable the Keep Aliveoption.
  5. Choose a timer value in minutes (default is 15).
  6. Select a Keep Alive Sequence method (default is NOP).
  7. Click OK to save.
  8. For PASSPORT Web to Host:

  9. From the Administrator:

  10. Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator program.
  11. Open an existing or create a new session profile.
  12. Select the Advanced tab.
  13. Enable the Keep Aliveoption.
  14. Choose a timer value in minutes (default is 15).
  15. Select a Keep Alive Sequence method (default is NOP).
  16. Click OK to save or Connect to test.
