Lowercase Resource Name

Product

PASSPORT PC to Host

Emulation Types

TN3270, TN5250

Issue

When I type the resource name for my TN3270E or TN5250E LU or Pool name, it is automatically converted to uppercase.  Why can't I type a lowercase resource name?  Is there a work-around that will allow me to use lowercase resource names?

Solution

PASSPORT forces resource names to uppercase to prevent problems with some TN3270 servers that only support uppercase.  Follow the steps below to allow lowercase resource names:

  1. For each session profile (.ZWS) there is an associated .ZCC file, which is a text file. This configuration file is used to override settings in the .ZWS file. Open this file in a text editor, such as Notepad.
  2. Modify the "ResourceName=" parameter so that it is lowercase.
  3. Save the .ZCC file
  4. Optionally set the properties on the .ZCC file to "Read-Only".  If you ignore this step, anytime the Communication®Setup screen is displayed, the parameter will be converted back to uppercase.
