Issue
How can I use a Windows environment variable as my resource name?
Solution
For PASSPORT PC to Host:
- Disconnect from your PASSPORT session.
- Select Setup from the Communication menu.
- Enable the checkbox next to TN3270E Support.
- Select Specific.
- In the Resource Name box, enter the Windows environment variable that you wish to use as the resource name. For example, %USERNAME% uses the currently logged in user as a resource name, or %COMPUTERNAME% uses the workstation name.
For PASSPORT Web to Host:
From the Administrator:
- Open an existing or create a new session profile .
- Enable the checkbox next to TN3270E Support.
- Select Specific.
- In the Resource Name box, enter the Windows environment variable that you wish to use as the resource name. For example, %USERNAME% uses the currently logged in user as a resource name, or %COMPUTERNAME% uses the workstation name.
- Click OK to save or Connect to test.

From a Windows command prompt, type SET to display a list of the current variables available on a workstation. Custom variables may be added from the Advanced tab of Windows System Properties.
