Exception Client/server version mismatch Error
PASSPORT Web to Host
TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60
I get the following "ExceptionClient/server version mismatch. The server version is 2004. The client version must also be 2004. Please contact your system administrator to help resolve the problem." error message when trying to start a PASSPORT Web to Host client session. What is the cause of this and how can I resolve it?
This message indicates that the currently downloaded ActiveX Client application on your workstation is older than the version of PASSPORT Web to Host that is installed on the server you are trying to access. This is usually caused when a shortcut or Internet Explorer Favorite is pointed to the PASSPORT Web to Host Active Document. By pointing directly to the Ecomes.zwh file on the server, the version checking is bypassed, thus causing a mismatch. To correct this situation, point the shortcut or favorite to Ecomes.asp, rather than Ecomes.zwh. This will cause the new version of the PASSPORT Web to Host Client application to download.
For Windows XP with SP2 installed, it is possible that the option "Automatic Prompting for ActiveX Controls" is disabled, which may cause PASSPORT not to download the new version of the ActiveX Client from the server. To correct this, follow the steps below:
"Automatic Prompting for ActiveX Controls" is disabled by default for the Internet Security Zone
In version 2007-1516-1 and higher, running mismatch version of client and server is allowed with limited functionality. See Running Mismatch Version of Client and Server
