PASSTCP Socket Receive Error 10014
PASSPORT PC to Host, PASSPORT Web to Host
TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60
Why do I receive the following error when trying to connect to a PASSPORT session?
"PASSTCP - Socket Receive Error - 10014"
This error is generally associated with some sort of network problem on your LAN. Basically, if the host becomes unavailable for any reason, then you will see this error. When you see this occur, you can verify that the host is unavailable by issuing a "ping" command from a DOS window. There are many different reasons why this could occur, some of which are highlighted below:
High volume of network traffic on the LAN segment
Network configuration on workstation (protocol binding order, unnecessary protocols, etc.
Hardware failure (NIC, Ethernet cable, Hub, etc.)
It may be necessary to remove and re-install the TCP/IP protocol from the Windows network configuration. An installed application on the workstation may have overwritten files with older versions that are causing problems.
