Title
The Page Cannot Be Displayed Error with eCode 500
Product
PASSPORT WEB TO HOST
Emulation Types
TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60
Issue
When trying to launch a session from the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST launch
page, I am getting "The page cannot be displayed" error message
with HTTP eCode=500 error code.
Solution
This problem usually occurs because your PASSPORT WEB TO HOST virtual
directory (pec or comparable name) in IIS is configured to run without
an application name. Follow the steps below to resolve:
- Right click on the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST virtual directory
(pec or comparable name) in the IIS console and select Properties.
- Under the Application
Settings section of the Virtual
Directory tab, click the Create
button to create your application name.
- Click OK to save
the settings (the Application name should now be the same as your
PASSPORT WEB TO HOST virtual directory name).
- Access your PASSPORT WEB TO HOST launch page to launch
a session.
More Information
- This error may also be seen if the PASSPORT WEB
TO HOST main DLL file is missing for some reason. This could be due
to the file getting deleted or may have never been copied to the PASSPORT
WEB TO HOST Server during setup. Verify that the ECOMES.DLL file resides
in the C:\Program Files\PASSPORT eClient Admin\Server\ folder. If
the file is missing, you must reinstall PASSPORT WEB TO HOST.
- For IBM WebSphere installations, make sure the WebSphere
Application Server (WAS) is installed and configured correctly. You
should be able to run the sample servlet applications that come with
your WAS installation. If you’re unable to do this, most likely you
will not be able to run PASSPORT WEB TO HOST. Refer to your IBM WAS
manuals or our QuickStart instruction for more information:
