Issue

Is it possible to rename a file that is being transferred via FTP from the host to the workstation?  If so, how can it be done?

Solution

There are two ways of renaming a file that is being transferred via FTP:

  1. If you are using the PASSPORT FTP Client, then you can use the quote command (F6 key) to rename the file that is being transferred from the host:

GET - GET FILE

This command gets a host file from the remote host and transfers it to the PC. The only required parameter is the remote host filename. The complete syntax follows with the optional parameters in brackets.

GET [host-directory]host-filename [local-directory][local-filename]

PUT - PUT FILE

This command puts a local PC file to the remote host by sending it to the remote host. The only required parameter is the local PC filename. The complete syntax follows with the optional parameters in brackets.

PUT [local-directory]local-filename [[host-directory]host-filename]

  1. If you are configuring an FTP transfer through PASSPORT PC to Host or PASSPORT Web to Host, then you can rename the file through the FTP File Transfer dialog box:
