Issue
How can I prevent users from running macros with PASSPORT?
Solution
This is done by disabling the macro commands and toolbar buttons in the security settings.
For PASSPORT PC to Host:
- Select the File®Security menu command.
- Enter a password to prevent users from viewing these security settings.
- Choose a session type to display a list of menu categories.
- Select a Category to display a list of menu commands.
- Disable menu commands as needed. This will cause the menu commands and associated toolbar buttons to be grayed out.
For PASSPORT Web to Host:
- Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator application.
- Select the appropriate Session Profile and double-click to edit.
- Choose the Config Lock tab.
- Select a Category to display a list of menu commands.
- Enable and disable commands as necessary.
- Click OK to save.
More Information
-
The security settings are session profile specific. If the users have access to the File®New and File®Open menu commands, they could simply create a new session profile to get around the security settings. Therefore, it is recommended to disable these menu commands in the security settings as well.
