Access DS3270 Using TN5250 Emulation
PASSPORT PC to Host, PASSPORT Web to Host
TN5250
I am trying to use TN5250 emulation to get access to TN3270 hosts using the inbuilt OS/400 emulator. This can be accomplished by starting a TN3270 session using the STREML3270 command. When attempting this from a PASSPORT TN5250 session, the connection does not succeed and the resulting display was not as expected. How can this be resolved?
To resolve this issue, you can either upgrade to the latest PASSPORT version or apply a patch to your running version.
If you're not running the latest version, please contact Rocket Software to obtain the appropriate patch.
If a customer needs to use a 3270 emulation session to a mainframe, for example, they can use the STREML3270 command. This command will start a 3270 device emulation session for a display device to a binary synchronous communications (BSC) or Systems Network Architecture (SNA) host system. This command/function is supported by the PEER group.
This feature was primarily implemented to allow access from a twinax 5250 screen and is sometimes used for access to 3270 screen from 5250 only emulators.
An alternative method may be to configure a new PASSPORT session directly for 3270 access.
