How do I configure a printer session?

Solution

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

To configure a printer session, open the Communication®Setup®Connection tab and do the following:

Note: Beginning with PASSPORT 2007 this can be customized under the Communication®Setup®Emulation tab menu.

  1. Select Printer for the Session Type.  When you select Printer as the session type, TN3270E Support is automatically enabled and the Associated option becomes available.
  2. Enter configuration settings such as IP Host Name, TCP Port and Emulation Type as required.  The Auto-Reconnect option is on by default.
  3. To select either the Specific or Associated option, click on the radio button next to the option.
  4. Enter the name of the LU or pool in the Resource Name field.
  5. Click the Connect button.  The host session screen should appear, with a list of available printers indicating the connection status and host address on the status bar.

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

  1. Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator.
  2. Select 3270 Printer or 5250 Printer.
  3. Select Sessions.
  4. Right-click and select New.
  5. Enter a name for the Session Profile.
  6. Enter configuration settings such as IP Host Name, TCP Port and Emulation Type as required.  The Auto-Reconnect option is on by default.
  7. To select either the Specific or Associated option, click on the radio button next to the option.
  8. Enter the name of the LU or pool in the Resource Name field.
  9. Click OK to save or Connect to test.
