Issue

PASSPORT printer session sits in RECEIVE mode but the print job never spools to the printer.

-or-

It takes at least 2-3 minutes or longer for print jobs to spool to the printer.

Solution

These problems can be resolved by configuring the PASSPORT printer session to end the job using any of the following methods:

• Unbind
  Enabling this option causes PASSPORT to send the contents of the buffer to print after an unbind command is received from the host.

• TN3270E EOJ
  Enabling this option causes PASSPORT to send the contents of the buffer to print after an End Of Job (EOJ) indicator is received from the host.

• Telnet Abort Output
  Enabling this option causes PASSPORT to send the contents of the buffer to print after a Telnet abort output command is received.

• Detect End of Print Job Using Time-out Value (sec.)
  Enabling this option causes PASSPORT to send the contents of the buffer to print after a specified time has passed without an End of Print Job received from the host since the last data stream. The range for the value is 10 to 300 seconds, with the default value set to 30 seconds.

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

1. From the PASSPORT printer session main menu, select the menu command File®Print Setup. (Note: This has been renamed to File->Page Setup in version 2007)
2. Enable the appropriate End print job on options.
3. Click the OK button to exit Print Setup and save the configuration.

Note: the above options selected should match the method (s) used by the host application. Selecting incorrect End print job on options may cause unexpected results.

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

From the Client:

Instructions are the same as those for PASSPORT PC to Host

From the Administrator:

1. Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator
2. Open an existing or create a new Printer Session
3. Select the Printer Setup tab
4. Enable the appropriate End print job on options
5. Click OK to save or Connect to test

More Information

• Some older TN3270E servers or mainframe programs may not send an End of Print Job command to the TN3270E printer session. In these cases, the Detect End of Print Job option forces the command within a specified period of time.

  These problems can be resolved by configuring the PASSPORT printer session to Detect End of Print Job. Follow the steps below to configure:

• 1. From the PASSPORT printer session main menu, select the menu command File®Page Setup.(Note: This has been renamed to File->Page Setup in version 2007)
  2. Enable the Detect End of Print Job Using Time-out Value (Sec.) option.
  3. Keep the default value of 30 seconds.
  4. Click the OK button to exit Print Setup and save the configuration.
  5. When this option is enabled, 30 seconds after a print job is sent to the printer, PASSPORT will issue an end of print job command that spools the print job to the printer.
