Issue

Printing blank characters correctly.

Solution

When special control codes or character codes less than hex 20 are being sent to the printer, the Enable Printer Transparency option must be used to ensure that these special codes are printed correctly. Printer Transparency sends print data to the printer using a pass-through mode.

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

1. From the printer session main menu, select the File®Page Setup menu command. (Note: This has been renamed to File®Page Setup in version 2007)
2. Enable the Enable Printer Transparency option.

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

From the Administrator:

1. Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator
2. Open an existing or create a new Printer Session
3. Select the Printer Setup tab
4. Enable the Enable Printer Transparency option.
5. Click OK to save or Connect to test

More Information

• Note: When this option is selected, all other options except Printer, Printer Initialization String, and Printer Closing String are disabled.

• If transparent data is being sent to the printer, the Enable Printer Transparency check box must be selected, otherwise the Windows printer driver will convert the control codes to blanks, suppress them, or convert them to some other character.
