Printer Session Not Responding
PASSPORT PC to Host, PASSPORT Web to Host
TN3270, TN5250
When I start a PASSPORT host printer session, a blank PASSPORT window appears with an hourglass cursor. The status of the printer session is reported as "Not Responding" in the Windows Task Manager. How can I resolve this?
Upon connecting to the host, a PASSPORT host printer session must query the list of defined printers on the local workstation in order to display them in the printer session window. If any of the defined printers are currently not connected or invalid, a connection delay will occur or the session will become non-responsive. To correct this situation, remove any unneeded or invalid printers from the list of Windows printers.
This is a known issue with PASSPORT PC to Host version 2004-3B30-4 and PASSPORT Web to Host version 2004-3722-3 and older. If your PC is using a Novell printer, this will be a problem with PASSPORT host printer sessions. As a work-around, you may delete the Novell printer from your PC and use a Windows printer. This issue is resolved in PASSPORT 2007.
Another way to resolve this issue is to disable the automatic searching of network printers feature in Windows XP. Follow the instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article below:
