Issue

I have recently distributed a standard PASSPORT configuration to all workstations. When users perform a print screen function, either by selecting the Print toolbar button or by choosing the File->Print menu command, the print job is always sent to the same network printer. Is there a way to prevent this behavior?

Solution

Whenever a standard configuration file (.ZWS) is created, the default printer information is stored in the configuration file. If this is a network printer, then it will remain the default printer for all users upon distribution. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to make sure the configuration file is created on a workstation that either has no printers defined, or at least no network printers. If created on a workstation with no printer definitions, no printer information is stored. The first time the user opens the session profile, his/her Windows default printer will be saved as the default PASSPORT printer.
