Does PASSPORT support the IBM PC/3270 PCSAPI?
PASSPORT does not support the IBM Personal Communications/3270 PCSAPI per se. The PCSAPI is used to control the Personal Communications/3270 session itself, whereas HLLAPI is used to manage communication between the workstation and the host session after the session is established.
The PCSAPI contains functions that do the following:
pcsConnect Session
pcsDisconnect Session
pcsQueryEmulatorStatus
pcsQuerySessionList
pcsQueryWorkstationProfile
pcsSetLinkTimeout
pcsStartSession
pcsStopSession
PASSPORT contains HLLAPI extensions that do essentially some of the same functions in the IBM PCSAPI. These HLLAPI extension functions include:
HLL_RUNPROFILE - Run the Session Profile
HLL_RUNCONNECT - Run the Session Profile and Connect PS
HLL_CLOSEDISCONNECT - Disconnect PS and Close Session
These HLLAPI extension functions could be used to accomplish some of the same things accomplished using the PCSAPI. However, the API program would have to be modified to use these HLLAPI extension functions instead of the PCSAPI.
