Title

After Upgrade to Windows 7 VBA Macro Does Not Find Active Session

Product

PASSPORT PC to Host

Emulation Types

TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60

Issue

We recently upgraded our desktops from Windows XP to Windows 7. After the upgrade, our VBA macro that runs from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to update data on the mainframe, no longer finds the active PASSPORT session.

Solution

This issue is normally seen when Passport.exe is configured to run in Windows XP compatibility mode. Prior to version 2009-403, XP compatibility mode is required for PASSPORT to run on Windows 7. However, version 2009-403 and newer are Windows 7 compatible and do not require compatibility mode. If an older version was installed on Windows 7 with XP compatibility mode configured, after the upgrade to a newer version the compatibility mode setting will be retained and this will cause problems with the PASSPORT Object Interface. To resolve this we recommend disabling the Windows XP compatibility mode setting for Passport.exe.
