PASSPORT Host Integration Objects -- Deployment Questions

Host Integration Software for ActiveX and .NET 3270 and 5250 Application Integration

How is it deployed?

You are in complete control of the deployment of your application developed using the PASSPORT Host Integration Objects. If you develop a setup program for your application, the components included with PASSPORT Host Integration Objects can be installed as part of your application.

What server platforms are supported?

Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2000 Server.

What client platforms are supported?

Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Does this require a terminal emulator?

No, a terminal emulator is not required. However, PASSPORT Host Integration Objects does provide a terminal control. The PASSPORT terminal control provides terminal emulation screen and keyboard support. This object runs in conjunction with a session object. The session object maintains the host screen buffer and performs all communication with the host system. The terminal control object provides a user interface for that session object. The PASSPORT terminal control is used for developing client based host integration applications where a terminal emulator needs to be imbedded into another application.

Can I launch multiple sessions?

Yes, multiple host sessions can be launched.

How many sessions can be active at the same time?

The number of active sessions is limited by the amount of memory and resources available on your server or desktop. The first session launched requires 280KB of memory. Each additional session launched requires 90KB of memory.

How scalable are the Host Integration Objects?

The PASSPORT Host Integration Objects are written in Visual C++, built on a robust multithreaded architecture, and designed to use a minimal amount of memory and system resources. This software architecture results in very high scalability.
