PASSPORT HIO Deployment
How is it deployed?
You are in complete control of the deployment of your application developed using the PASSPORT Host Integration Objects. If you develop a setup program for your application, the components included with PASSPORT Host Integration Objects can be installed as part of your application.
PASSPORT HIO can be deployed to a Microsoft Windows Server, or to individual Windows workstations.
Can I use HIO to embed a terminal emulation client into my application?
Yes, PASSPORT HIO also includes the Terminal Control Object, which lets developers embed a PASSPORT TN3270 or TN5250 client inside another client application. Through use of the HIO Terminal Control, 3270 or 5250 host "green" screens can be exposed to the end user, similar to an IBM terminal, and full use of the PC keyboard is available to interact with the 3270 or 5250 host application. PASSPORT HIO Terminal Control is ideal for advanced Windows client-based legacy integration projects.
Can I use HIO to to provide clientless terminal emulation?
Yes, beginning with version 2011, HIO includes an autoHTML application that provides System z (3270) or IBM i (5250) access from any device, anywhere. Learn More

PASSPORT HIO Terminal Control is ideal for advanced Windows client-based legacy integration projects.
Can I launch multiple sessions?
Yes, multiple host sessions can be launched.
How many sessions can be active at the same time?
The number of active sessions is limited by the amount of memory and resources available on your server or desktop. The first session launched requires 280KB of memory. Each additional session launched requires 90KB of memory.
How scalable are the Host Integration Objects?
The PASSPORT Host Integration Objects are written in Visual C++, built on a robust multithreaded architecture, and designed to use a minimal amount of memory and system resources. This software architecture results in very high scalability.
