Is SSL security supported?
Yes, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), the de facto Internet security standard is supported as an option in PASSPORT. SSL security provides both authentication and encryption to prevent eavesdropping and tampering with your TN3270E and TN5250E host sessions. In order to use this feature you must be connected to a TN3270E or TN5250E server that also supports SSL security.
SSL is not available for deployment to all countries.
Is Keep Alive supported?
Yes, Keep Alive is a feature that will send a periodic timing signal to the gateway or host to ensure that the connection is not idle long enough to be terminated.
Is there an International version?
Yes, an International version is now available that includes additional host code pages, keyboard support and character set support.
Are screen display and keyboard handling objects available?
The PASSPORT terminal control provides terminal emulation screen and keyboard support. This object runs in conjunction with a session object. The session object maintains the host screen buffer and performs all communication with the host system. The terminal control object provides a user interface for that session object. The PASSPORT terminal control is used for developing client based host integration applications where a terminal emulator needs to be imbedded into another application.
Is session pooling provided?
Session pooling is supported with the PASSPORT Host Integration Objects. However, it does require programming to support this. Session pooling is when a host connection is maintained at a certain host application screen and then individual user session requests are multitasked to use the same host connection. Session pooling can be used to implement legacy integration functions such as transaction wrapping, host data objects or units of work.
Is file transfer supported?
No, file transfer is not provided as part of the PASSPORT Host Integration Objects.
Are host printer sessions supported?
No, host printer sessions are not supported. At this time, only display sessions are provided as part of the PASSPORT Host Integration Objects.
