PASSPORT Tech Tip: Printing Screen Contents to a File

Issue

How the entire contents of the PASSPORT session screen may be printed to a file using a macro provided with PASSPORT. The file may then be viewed or printed using any text editor.

In PASSPORT WEB TO HOST®:

A system macro is available that will allow you to print the contents of the screen to a text file:

1. Choose the Macro->Run menu command, or press the Run button on the toolbar. The Macro Run dialog box will appear, allowing you to choose from a list of macros to run.

2. Choose System for the Macro Type, select the prt2file.zmc file, then click the Run button. A dialog box will prompt you to Enter File Name.

3. Enter a name for the file you want to print the screen to. Include the full path along with the file name. For example, you could enter, "c:\My Documents\myfile.txt". If you do not enter a path, the file will be created in the Windows System32 folder.

4. Click the OK button.

In PASSPORT PC TO HOST®:

1. Choose the Macro->Run menu command, or press the Run button on the toolbar. The Open dialog box will appear, allowing you to choose from a list of macros to run.

2. Select the prt2file.zmc file, then click the Open button. A dialog box will prompt you to Enter File Name.

3. Enter a name for the file you want to print the screen to. Include the full path along with the file name. For example, you could enter, "c:\My Documents\myfile.txt". If you do not enter a path, the file will be created in the default PASSPORT folder.

4. Click the OK button.

Comments

This option is useful when the information on the screen is needed in electronic format. The contents of the screen print can be easily copied into other reports or files that are also in electronic format.

PASSPORT Terminal Emulation Quicktrial or Download Options

There are two ways to evaluate the PASSPORT software: either download a copy of the software or do a QuickTrial of the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® application. With QuickTrial, there is no server installation, you simply download the client from our web server. This is a fast and easy way to look at the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® software. For those that want to install the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® software on their own web server, you can download the full working copy of the software and complete a full evaluation.
