More than any other solution, PASSPORT PC TO HOST is the number one choice organizations turn to when they seek to replace older versions of their existing VT/100, VT/220 or VT/420 telnet software.

Our free macro conversion services (available for subscription licenses with a minimum of 500 units), ability to reuse existing HLLAPI and other screen-scraping API applications written for Attachmate and IBM, and our architecturally standard design, makes it easy for evaluators to select PASSPORT as the single product to replace one or many terminal emulation solutions.

With its royalty-free SSL and SSH security, robust Visual Basic scripting, Attachmate® and IBM®-compatible APIs to reuse existing screen-scraping applications and more, PASSPORT PC TO HOST - available through affordable annual subcription licensing - is the preferred replacement emulator for existing terminal emulation programs.

Telnet Software Deployment

There are actually two PASSPORT products. Each product uses a different method of deployment.

PASSPORT PC TO HOST® is desktop-based telnet client that includes VT/100, VT/220 and VT/420 host access for UNIX® systems, as well as TN3270, TN5250, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60 and FTP clients. This product is similar to other desktop-based Windows programs. PASSPORT is installed with a Windows setup program. It can also be deployed using SMS, MSI, Citrix or Microsoft Terminal Server.

PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® is web-based telnet client that includes VT/100, VT/220 and VT/420 host access for UNIX® systems, as well as TN3270, TN5250, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60 and FTP clients, and is deployed from a web server. The telnet software is installed on a web server and provides an administrator program for centralized configuration and administration. All software and configuration files reside on the web server. When the Telnet client is run, an ActiveX applet is downloaded from the web server to the client desktop and run inside Internet Explorer. The ActiveX component is only downloaded the first time a session is launched, or whenever the server version of the ActiveX component changes to a newer version. The ActiveX client running inside Internet Explorer makes a direct VT/100, VT/220 or VT/420 connection to the DEC or UNIX® host system.

VT/100 Telnet Host Connection Support

PASSPORT supports all telnet host access features defined in the IETF Telnet specifications, DEC VT-52, DEC VT-100 and VT-220 Programmer's Reference manuals. Telnet terminal emulation uses the TCP/IP Internet protocol for communication between a telnet client and a telnet server. PASSPORT is compatible with all DEC and UNIX® hosts that adhere to these specifications. Both 7-bit and 8-bit VT220 connections are supported. A subset of VT420 emulation is supported as well as the VT340 color text commands.
