It is strongly recommended that you exit all Windows programs before running the Windows Installer Package. PASSPORT requires less than 10 MB of disk space.

  1. To begin the installation, double click on the downloaded executable or insert the CD, the setup program will start upon inserting the CD. If Autorun is disabled on your PC, double-click on the executable file to begin.

You must have a valid license code in order to proceed with the installation. Note: If a license code was emailed to you from Zephyr, it is recommended that you copy and paste it into the License Code field to avoid typing errors. You may leave the license code blank to install a 30-day trial version.
  3. By default PASSPORT will be installed for use by all users, however you may select the "Only for me" radio button to install only for the current user.
  4. Choose the directory where you would like to install PASSPORT. If you wish to change the installation directory, click the Browse button, which will allow you to select another directory. Note: If the Setup program detects a previously installed version of PASSPORT, it will prompt you to overwrite your existing installation. If the same version is detected, you will be prompted to remove or repair the application.
  5. Choose the location where you would like to store your user data such as sessions, keyboards, schemes, macros, etc.) The default directory is My Documents Directory. However, you may choose the Application Directory, All Users\Document Directory, or User Defined Directory.

3. Create a session and test your connection

Click on Start -> All Programs -> PASSPORT Client -> PASSPORT PC TO HOST to start a session. When you start PASSPORT for the first time, the New Session Wizard dialog box will automatically be displayed. You must go through this wizard to configure the necessary information in order to establish a session. For example,

To configure a session

  1. Select the appropriate Emulation Type and Display or Printer session
  2. On the connection parameters screen, enter the IP Host Name and TCP Port of the host that you are connecting to. If you do not know this information, you can obtain it from your host administrator.
  3. Select the appropriate screen size in the Screen Size area. This is very important to configure correctly. If you select a size not supported by the host, you will not be able to make a connection. The other configuration parameters should be set to their default values, unless you are instructed to configure something differently by your host administrator.
  4. If you’re required to establish a secure socket layer connection to your host then check the option Enable Secure Connection on this screen. In order for the SSL connection to take place, both the client and the server must have SSL configured. Check with your host administrator for more information.  Note: If you’re having a connection problem with an SSL session on Windows Vista, please review the Troubleshooting Tips section for more information.
  5. Review your configuration information on the next screen. If you need to make changes, you can click the Back button. Otherwise, click Finish to connect to the host.

5. Troubleshooting Tips

Remember: If you need to talk to Zephyr Technical Support about your connection problem, you will have to completely fill out the support request form from our website.

If you cannot get a PASSPORT SSL session to connect from a Windows Vista PC, it is possible that your host is only configured to use the DES cipher suite for secure connection. By default, Windows Vista disables this feature for security purposes. You will need to either re-configure SSL on your host to use a different cipher suite, or follow the steps below to enable the DES cipher suite on your Windows Vista PC to allow PASSPORT to work:

  1.  Go to Start Menu, and type gpedit.msc in the Start Search and press <ENTER>. There might be an UAC elevation prompt. Just allow the action and proceed with the next step.
  2. Under Computer Configuration in Group Policy Object Editor, expand Administrative Templates, expand Network, expand SSL Configuration Settings, and then double-click SSL Cipher Suite Order.
  3. Select Enable and append TLS_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA,SSL_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA, at the beginning of the pre-populated string value. (Beware of the ending comma and there should not be any embedded space inside the string).
  4. Click OK and restart your computer. (Note: gpupdate command will update the Group Policy settings but reconfiguration of SChannel.dll requires restart.)
