Configuration File Security Lock Feature ---------------------------------------- The File->Security menu command has been added to PASSPORT. This feature provides the ability to enable and disable all of the menu commands for both the display session and printer session. Each menu item can be individually enabled or disabled. To lock the configuration, a password must be entered. This password must be at least four characters long, but no longer than sixteen characters. After the password is set, every time the File->Security menu command is selected, the user will be prompted for the password. This prevents unauthorized access to menu commands that have been disabled. The menu items that are disabled are grayed out on the menu. Also, any corresponding accelerator keys are disabled and the corresponding tool bar buttons are grayed out as well. In addition to disabling the menu commands, the following miscellaneous items can also be locked: (1) Read .zcc File, and (2) Show Menu Bar. The Read .zcc File lock, prevents PASSPORT from reading the text based Zephyr communication configuration file that overrides the binary .zws file. This prevents the user from editing and tampering the PASSPORT communication options. The Show Menu Bar lock can be used to hide the entire menu bar from the user. The Windows system menu on the PASSPORT title bar can be used to show the menu bar. When this is done, and the menu bar is locked, the user will be prompted for the password. Note: The Options->Printer Setup is no longer available in the PASSPORT printer session. This menu command was a duplicate of the File->Printer Setup menu command. FTP File Transfer Enhancements ------------------------------ * MVS and OS/390 mainframe systems: All MVS mainframe file attributes are displayed for both sequential and partitioned datasets. * VM mainframe systems: The file name and file type are displayed in separate panes. This allows sorting by file name or by file type. All VM mainframe file attributes are displayed also. * File->View menu command has been added. This command views the currently selected file in either the PC or Host file pane. You may also double-click on a file in the PC or Host file pane to perform the same operation. The PASSPORT FTP client first trys to open the file for viewing using the program associated with the file extension. If there is no extension, or there is no program associated with the extension, then another program such as NOTEPAD or WORDPAD is used to open the file for viewing. This default viewer program can be specified in the Communication-> Settings property sheet in the Settings tab. If the file to be viewed is a host file, the file is transferred to a temporary file on the PC for viewing. * Keep Alive function is now available to keep FTP sessions active for an indefinite amount of time. * There is now an option to save the password information in the Passport.zft file. If passwords are saved in the FTP configuration file, this may or may not pose a security risk. * File->Change Local Path and File->Change Host Path menu commands have been added. There are also toolbar buttons and short cut keys to implement these two new commands as well. * The non-standard RFC commands CD, LS, GET and PUT are supported. These commands can now be entered when using the Communication-> Quote menu command. * There is now an option to prompt for replace or overwrite when files are being transferred to the PC. * Diagnostic information is displayed, with access to the PASSFTP help file, whenever host FTP servers send back negative responses. * A Window command has been added to the menu bar. This provides direct access to all the displayed panes and provied resizing of the panes as well. * The window size and position of the PASSPORT FTP client is now saved. When the program is started again, the last window size and position is restored. * The date for the PC files displayed now contains 4 digit years. * A low level trace facility is now part of the PASSPORT FTP Client. To enable the trace, use the Communication->Setup menu command and then select the Settings tab. Enable the check box for Low Level Trace. You must exit the FTP Client in order for the trace file to be completely written to disk. The file FTPTRACE.LOG contains the low level trace information. This file is located in the default directory that PASSPORT is installed in. Keyboard Enhancements --------------------- * The right control key is now an auto-repeat key. Previously, this key was not an auto-repeat key, since the right control key could be used for the Control function as well as some other function. * The Edit->Cut, Edit->Copy, and Edit->Paste commands can be mapped to any key on the keyboard. * The keyboard type ahead buffer has been increased to hold up to 256 keystrokes. Clipboard Enhancements ---------------------- * The Edit->Options menu command has been added. This provides for the configuration of various options that affect the cut, copy and paste operations. * A selected area of the screen can now be used as the target area for a paste operation. * There is now an option to automatically copy a selected area of text to the clipboard when using the mouse to select an area of text. * There is now an option to move the cursor to the end of text just pasted into the PASSPORT screen. Macro Files ----------- There are three new macro files that have been added to PASSPORT: * APP2FILE.MAC * PRT2SCR.MAC * EXITSESS.MAC The APP2FILE.MAC macro is used to append a selected area of the screen to a text file. If the file does not exist, the file will be created. Otherwise, the selected area of text will be appended to the bottom of the text file. The PRT2SCR.MAC macro is used to print two successive screens on one page of paper. The first time the macro is executed, the screen is copied to a temporary disk file. The second time the macro is executed, the screen is appended to the same temporary disk file, the file is then printed, and then deleted. The EXITSESS.MAC macro is used to perform the File->Exit operation. These macros can be mapped to a key or key combination, assigned to a tool bar button >1, >2, >3, >4, >5 or >6, assigned to a keypad button, or assigned to a mouse button. Help File Enhancements ---------------------- The PASSPORT help files now use the latest Robo Help version 7.0 help file format. The help file contents is now displayed in a pane on the left side, while the selected help topic is displayed in a pane on the right side. This makes finding the information you are looking for easier and faster. Visual C/C++ Version 6.0 (SP2) ------------------------------- The entire PASSPORT TN3270E Client for Windows 95/98/NT has been re-compiled and re-linked using version 6.0 (SP2) of the Microsoft Visual C/C++ Compiler. This provides you with the latest, most reliable, bug free, and most compact Microsoft support DLLs available to date. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements for Version 7.0-2205 (February 5, 1999) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Security using SSL V3 (only for versions 7.0-2205-S and 7.0-2205-SX) --------------------- PASSPORT Professional Client now implements advanced security features using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Version 3 server authentication and encryption providing secure data access across TCP/IP networks. With the built-in security of SSL, your TN3270E terminal emulation sessions are now protected from eavesdropping, tampering, or message forgery over TCP/IP. This feature can be critical for those organizations that use TN3270E for remote access across the Internet to access sensitive data on corporate mainframes. The SSL protocol was developed by Netscape Communications Corporation to provide security and privacy over the Internet. Due to the widespread use of SSL, it can already be considered a "de facto standard". PASSPORT uses server authentication to make sure that you are authorized to connect to a specific TN3270E communication server. In this phase the server sends a digital certificate to PASSPORT. After authentication is validated using a combination of public and private keys, subsequent data transmissions are encrypted using one of the following supported cryptographic algorithms: RC2, RC4, RC5, DES, or Triple-DES. The public key certificates follow the X.509 syntax. Non-secure Telnet sessions typically use TCP Port 23. Secure Telnet sessions using SSL typically use TCP Port 992, but may be reconfigured to any available TCP Port desired. The current TN3270E servers supporting SSL security inlude IBM OS/390 Version 2 Release 6, IBM Communication Server 6.01 for NT, Novell intraNetWare for SAA 4.0 as well as others. PASSPORT Professional Client uses the cryprographic engine licensed from RSA Data Security, Inc., a recognized leader in Internet security. This means as advances are made in Internet security, PASSPORT will be one of the first clients to implement the newest and latest security features. This includes implementation of Transport Layer Security (TLS) which is currently in the IETF standardization process. How to Configure PASSPORT for SSL Security ------------------------------------------ It is very easy to configure PASSPORT for SSL support. Go to the Communication->Setup Connection tab and set the Enable SSL Secure Connection check box. You may also need to change the TCP Port number to something other than 23, such as 992. The TN3270E or TN5250 server that you are connecting to must also support SSL security. In the Communication->Setup Miscellaneous tab, you may also set the 'Warn About Invalid Server Certificates' check box. If this option is enabled, PASSPORT will display a dialog box whenever an invalid certificate is received from the TN3270E or TN5250 server. If you do not want this dialog box to appear, disable this option. Changes to the PASSPORT.ZCC File -------------------------------- The Security= option can now be specified in the PASSPORT.ZCC file. The parameters for the Security= option can be either SSL or None. Security=SSL (SSL security is configured) Security=None (no security configured) Changes to the PASSPORT status bar ---------------------------------- When SSL security is enabled, a small yellow security lock symbol appears on the PASSPORT status bar. If you double click on this symbol, PASSPORT will display the certificate information on the server you are currently connected to. Note about Version numbers -------------------------- Version 7.0-2205-S is the domestic US version of SSL security. Version 7.0-2205-SX is the export version of SSL security. Due to US export law, PASSPORT supports a 40-bit key length for encryption in the export version. SSL security is only available as an optional version for the PASSPORT Professional Client. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements for Version 7.0-1115 (January 15, 1999) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Visual C/C++ Version 6.0 ------------------------ The entire PASSPORT TN3270E Client for Windows 95/98/NT has been re-compiled and re-linked using version 6.0 (SP1) of the Microsoft Visual C/C++ Compiler. This provides you with the latest, most reliable and most compact Microsoft support DLLs available to date. TN5250 Emulation ---------------- The PASSPORT Professional Client now includes TN5250 terminal emulation as well as TN3270E terminal emulation. TN5250 emulation provides access to IBM AS/400 midrange computers using the TCP/IP communication protocol. The PASSPORT TN5250 emulation fully supports the IETF RFC 1205 5250 Telnet Interface specification and has been fully tested with the ACT TN5250 test suite providing the most robust and reliable TN5250 emulation available. To configure a TN5250 session, the Communication->Setup menu command is used. In the Connection property sheet tab, select TN5250 as the emulation type. Then enter your IP Host address and press the Connect button. A connection is then established with your host AS/400 system and your logon screen is displayed. The PASSPORT Professional Client provides both model 2 (80 x 24) and model 5 (132 x 27) display sessions. File transfer to and from AS/400 host systems is provided with the PASSPORT FTP Client. Windows HLLAPI is also supported. Host printer sessions and APA host graphics are not supported. In addition to the standard 3270 keys the following 5250 keys are supported: Field+, Field-, Field Exit, Record Backspace, Roll Up, Roll Down, Test Request and Help. FTP Client ---------- The PASSPORT Professional Client now includes a robust, full featured FTP Client that provides fast file transfer between a host system and a client. The PASSPORT FTP Client can be run as an independent program or can be launched from within the PASSPORT Professional terminal emulation program using the Transfer->FTP menu command. The PASSPORT FTP Client fully adheres to the IETF RFC 959 File Transfer Protocol specification. The FTP Client uses an asynchronous interface to the Windows sockets TCP/IP driver providing the fastest file transfer data rate possible while using a minimum amount of system resources. The PASSPORT FTP Client is only available as part of the PASSPORT Professional Client and is not available in the PASSPORT TN3270E Client or PASSPORT TN3270E Lite products. FTP Client Features: Windows Explorer look and feel * Menu bar, tool bar, status bar * Window panes for PC directory structure and file list * Window panes for Host directory structure and file list * Window pane for connection log and error messages * All window panes can be interactively resized Multiple host profiles can be created and easily selected as needed. Send and Receive File Transfer can be initiated by: * Drag and Drop from one window pane to another window pane * Transfer->Send and Transfer->Receive menu commands * Cut, Copy and Paste using Edit menu commands * Cut, Copy and Paste using Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V short-cut keys * Cut, Copy and Paste using right mouse button and floating menu bar Files displayed in the PC and Host window panes can be displayed as: * Large icons * Small icons * List * Detail Files and icons can be sorted by: * Size * Date * Type * Permission * Owner * Group * Automatically arranged Printer Session Enhancements ---------------------------- In this release the list of all available printers are displayed as well as the current print jobs in the printer session window. The current output printer is displayed in bold. For each printer listed, you can use the right mouse button to display a floating menu bar to access various commands including the printer properties. The floating menu bar commands can also be used to pause, cancel, restart and resume print jobs. Also, the host code page can now be configured in the Options-> Print Setup dialog box. The File->Print Setup command can also be used to bring up this same dialog box. Print Screen Enhancements ------------------------- * Configurable Prompt for Printer Settings The "Prompt for Printer Settings" option is now in the File->Options dialog box. When this option is checked, a printer setup dialog box will pop-up every time a File->Print command is performed. When this option is not checked, the printer setup dialog box will not be displayed and the File-Print operation will be performed immediately. * Ability to Print a Selected Area of the Screen PASSPORT now prints the selected area of text on the screen. Previously, PASSPORT would always print the entire screen regardless of whether there was a selected area or not. Cut, Copy and Paste Enhancements -------------------------------- * Edit->Paste Continue The Edit->Paste Continue menu command has been added. After doing an Edit->Paste, if there is more data left in the Windows clipboard, the 'Paste Continue' submenu command will be enabled. This allows the user to continue to paste the rest of the data in the Windows clipboard until there is no more data. * Edit->Copy Append Menu Command The new Edit->Copy Append menu command is used to append text to the Windows clipboard. This command can be used when it is necessary to copy screen after screen to the clipboard. Then all the data can then be pasted into another Windows application all at one time. * Stream Mode added for Edit->Paste command There are now two methods that can be used to paste text from the Windows clipboard into a PASSPORT session: (1) block mode, and (2) stream mode. Stream mode treats the clipboard data as a stream and copies text to the unprotected fields only, field by field, skipping over protected fields. When a field is filled up or when tabs or newlines are encountered in the data stream, it jumps to the next unprotected field and continues the pasting. Stream mode provides a convenient way of copying data from other Windows applications such as spreadsheets. These two paste methods can be enabled and disabled by using the Edit->Block Paste Mode and Edit->Stream Paste Mode pull down menu commands. Keyboard Enhancements --------------------- * Numeric Field Checking Feature This is a configurable option that can be set in the Options-> Miscellaneous dialog box. When "Numeric Field Checking" is enabled, 3270 fields that are marked as numeric entry fields will only accept the numbers 0 through 9, the '+', '-' and '.' characters to be entered. The characters "NUM" are displayed in the Operator Information Area (OIA) whenever the cursor is positioned on a numeric field. * New 3270 Keys The additional key functions have been added: End of Field - positions cursor to end of text in the current field. Jump Next - makes the next PASSPORT session active. Jump Next Active - makes the next active PASSPORT session active. Jump Previous - makes the previous PASSPORT session active. Jump Previous Active - makes previous active PASSPORT session active. * Keyboard Customization Enhancements The Print Screen and Scroll Lock keys are now mappable. Previously, these keys could not be customized and were grayed out in the PASSPORT keyboard customization dialog box. However, the Alt, Alt-Ctrl, and Alt-Shift Print Screen key combinations cannot be re-mapped due to Windows 95/98/NT restrictions. The Num-Lock key cannot be re-mapped as well. * Disable Menu Accelerator Keys This is a feature that was originally in the 16-bit 3270 PASSPORT for Windows and is now available in the 32-bit PASSPORT terminal emulators. This option can be enabled or disabled using the Options->Miscellaneous pull down menu command. When this option is checked on, all menu accelerator keys are disabled, and may be mapped using the Options-Keyboard Edit feature in PASSPORT. For example, the Ctrl+C is a menu accelerator key for the Edit->Copy Text pull down menu option. If you would like to re-map the Ctrl+C to a 3270 key such as the CLEAR key, you must first check this option on to disable all menu accelerator keys. APA Host Graphics Enhancements ------------------------------ * APA Host Graphics Colors can be changed There is now a check box in the Options->Colors property sheet page called "Colors affect APA Graphics". When this check box is enabled, all color map changes also affect APA host graphics that are displayed. * APA Host Graphics Printing Printing of graphics is now supported. In previous versions of PASSPORT, only the text portion of the graphic was printed. Whenever a graph is displayed on the screen, the File->Print menu command can be used to print the graph along with the 3270 overlay text. Printing can be done in either portrait or landscape mode. For best results, maximize the PASSPORT window before printing to obtain a higher resolution print out. Screen Display Enhancements --------------------------- * PASSPORT Font Enhancements Several new font sizes were added specifically for the Model 5 (132x27) screen size. New fonts make the Model 5 screen display more legible in 800x600 resolutions. * Display Blinking Fields as Reverse Video This is a feature that was originally in the 16-bit 3270 PASSPORT for Windows and is now available in the 32-bit PASSPORT terminal emulators. This option can be enabled or disabled using the Options->Miscellaneous pull down menu command. PASSPORT does not support the blinking extended attribute. When this option is checked on, all text with the blinking extended attribute is displayed in reverse video pink. This option is used when it is necessary to distinguish blinking text from non-blinking text. Miscellaneous Modifications --------------------------- Modifications to this release were made to maintain code compatibility with the PASSPORT Professional, TN3270E Client and TN3270E Lite versions of the software for Windows 95/98/NT. Minor code modifications were made to the formatted screen determination code, the reply to the Read Partition Query command, and the PrintFile macro command. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements for Version 6.1-4731 (July 31, 1998) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows 98 Compatibility ------------------------ PASSPORT version 6.1 has been fully tested with the production release of Microsoft Windows 98 and is completely compatible. This is due to the fact that PASSPORT is developed using the very latest Microsoft programming tools, including Visual C/C++ version 5.0 (SP3) and the Microsoft Foundation Class. IBM OS/390 Version 2 Release 5 TN3270E Support ---------------------------------------------- Testing of PASSPORT was performed at the TN3270E Interoperability Event at the IBM Research Triangle Park facility in June of 1998. PASSPORT TN3270E advanced features that were tested include the following: * Host Printing * Attention Key Support * System Request Key Support * All TN3270E Device Types including IBM-DYNAMIC For more information about the latest developments for OS/390, visit IBM's Web site at http://www.s390.ibm.com/os390/. IBM TCP/IP for VM TN3270E Host Printing Support ----------------------------------------------- PASSPORT 6.1 fully supports host printing features of the latest release of IBM's TCP/IP for VM/ESA. VM/ESA Version 2 Release 3, with TCP/IP feature functions level 310, provides TN3270E host printing. For more information about the IBM's VM/ESA Operating System Version 2 release 3, visit IBM's Web site at http://www.vm.ibm.com/related/tcpip/. APA Host Graphics Support ------------------------- This release of PASSPORT includes emulation of the IBM 3472-G, IBM 3192-G, IBM 3179-G and IBM 3279 S3G graphics terminals. Graphics Emulation is only available for model 2 and 3 screen sizes. This version includes the following features: * Program Symbol Sets A through F are fully supported * Terminal Resolution and High Resolution Support * Graphics Input Cursor * 4 Different Graphics Input Cursor Types * Copy Graph to Clipboard The following new menu commands and dialog boxes have been added: - Communication->Setup Menu Command - Graphics Property Sheet This allows for the configuration of the resolution, program symbol sets and enable vector graphics redraw buffer. For use with SAS/GRAPH, terminal resolution must be configured and PS A and B must be configured. For use with RTPMS, ACS and other GDDM graphics programs that require program symbol sets or that were written primarily for the IBM 3279 S3G graphics terminal, PS A through F must be configured. If your host graphics application utilizes transparent/opaque text, you must configure either PS None or PS A and B. Transparent text is not supported when PS A through F is configured. - Communication->Setup Menu Command - Graphics Property Sheet The Default vector graphics redraw buffer size is 512KB. Redraw buffer size values can be set within a range of 128KB (min) to 1024KB (max). - Options->Graphics Menu Command This property sheet page allows you to configure one of four graphics input cursor types: small white cross, large white cross, small green cross, large green cross. - Edit->Copy Graph (Ctrl+G) Menu Command This copies the selected area of the screen to the clipboard in graphics format. When the graph is copied, black and white are reversed. Once the graph is in the clipboard, it may then be pasted to other Windows applications such as PAINT where it can be printed or saved to disk in a bitmap format. Support for IBM Communications Server for NT Version 6.0 -------------------------------------------------------- PASSPORT is the first TN3270E client to implement TN3270E SLP load balancing, a feature found in Version 6.0 of the IBM Communication Server for NT, as well as Novell's intraNetWare for SAA version 3.0. SLP allows PASSPORT to connect to the least loaded TN3270E server within a group of servers and offers optimum response time for all TN3270E clients. For more information on IBM's Communication Server, visit IBM Web site at http://www.software.ibm.com/enetwork/commserver/. TN3270E Host Printing -- End-Of-Printjob Time Out Feature --------------------------------------------------------- PASSPORT now provides an option to force an End-Of-Printjob after a specified number of seconds has elapsed since the last data transmission in a host printer session. This feature is useful if the TN3270E server does not send the End-Of-Printjob to the TN3270E client, or if the mainframe print application does not send the SNA End Bracket or SNA Unbind command to the TN3270E client after the completion of a print job. SLP and Hot Back-Up Enhancements -------------------------------- PASSPORT 6.1 queries the SLP Directory Agent for a list of all TN3270E servers that support load balancing and uses the IP host names and TCP ports returned from it. Previously, PASSPORT 6.0 only used the IP host names returned from the SLP Directory Agent. This new query method allows network administrators to configure TN3270E servers with different TCP port numbers. If using Novell intraNetWare for SAA 3.0, the latest PTF code fixes must be installed on the server. PTF Code Fixes for IWSAA 3.0 may be downloaded from IBM's Web site at http://www.software.ibm.com/enetwork/commserver /support/fixes/fixes_inwsaa.html. Similarly, you may Add, Edit or Delete IP host name and TCP port information for different IP addresses in the Hot Back Up IP Host Names dialog box. PASSPORT 6.0 allowed only the IP host name to be specified in the Hot Back Up list. Auto Reconnect Enhancements --------------------------- Reconnect now uses incrementally longer wait values before attempting the next reconnect. This means that before PASSPORT reconnects to a host for the first time, it waits 5 seconds, the second time, it waits 10 seconds and so on, with a 15 seconds maximum wait time. The wait time will be reset to 5 seconds when PASSPORT successfully connects to a host and receives a connection closed command by the host. Save Window Size and Position ----------------------------- This option controls whether the window size and position settings are saved with all the other session settings when PASSPORT saves session information to a session file (*.ZWS). If checked, PASSPORT will save the window size and position for a session as normal. If cleared, PASSPORT will retain the previously saved window size and position when the session is opened again. This can be useful in situations where the host application changes the screen size from that of the logon screen. Note: To ensure that window size and position settings are retained, save the desired window size and position with the Save Window Size and Position check box selected, and then clear the check box. PASSPORT Font Enhancements -------------------------- In this release of PASSPORT, several new font sizes were added specifically for the Model 5 (132x27) screen size. New fonts make the Model 5 screen display more legible in 640x480 resolution. HLLAPI Enhancements ------------------- Two HLLAPI functions have been added to this version of PASSPORT: WinHLLAPIStartup and WinHLLAPICleanup. These functions may be necessary for some HLLAPI applications to run properly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION OPTIONS FOR NETWORK ENVIRONMENTS --------------------------------------------------------------------- Text Communication Configuration File ------------------------------------- When a PASSPORT Communication session file is saved, two configuration files are generated: binary file (*.ZWS) and ASCII text file (*.ZCC). The text formatted *.ZCC file contains the Connection Tab settings from Communication Setup and may be edited with any text editor. This allows network administrators to make changes to the connection settings without actually running PASSPORT. This can be useful in cases where a network administrator needs to distribute or change configuration settings for a group of users. If a *.ZCC file is edited and saved using a text editor, when a PASSPORT session is started using the corresponding *.ZWS file, the settings in the *.ZCC file will update the settings in the *.ZWS file. If an incorrect value is used while editing a *.ZCC file, the incorrect value will be ignored and the value for that setting is provided from the corresponding *.ZWS file. SETUP program can be run with /A (Automatic) command line option ---------------------------------------------------------------- This new option provides the ability to run the PASSPORT SETUP program without any user input. All choices, the SETUP program would normally ask, are automatically answered with the defaults for those questions. For Example, PASSPORT will be installed in the C:\Program Files\Passport directory. This is useful when PASSPORT is being installed on hundreds of workstations. To perform an "automatic" installation of PASSPORT, run setup as follows: setup.exe /a Standard Install netsetup.exe /a Network Client Install The "/a" parameter runs the setup program without prompting for user options. Automatic Installation using Zipped Program Executable File PASS32.EXE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The file PASS32.EXE is a zipped executable version of the PASSPORT 6.1 TN3270E Client. This file is located on the PASSPORT 6.1 TN3270E CD under the \PASSPORT directory. PASSPORT can be unpacked and installed using default settings. No user interaction is required for this installation process. To perform an automatic or silent installation from PASS32.EXE, execute the command from the Windows START/RUN dialogue box using the following parameters: ...\PASSPORT\PASS32.EXE -s -a /a CONFIG Directory Options for Network Installations of PASSPORT -------------------------------------------------------------- * PASSPORT File Server and Network Client Installations ----------------------------------------------------- 1. Installed PASSPORT on the server, using the Network File Server Installation. 2. Assuming the installed directory is L:\PASSPORT, create a CONFIG directory under the directory L:\PASSPORT. 3. Copy desired PASSPORT configuration files into the CONFIG directory. L:\PASSPORT\CONFIG\*.zws \*.mac \*.hot : 4. Performed Network Client install using L:\PASSPORT\NetSetup.exe. 5. Configuration files in the CONFIG directory will be copied to the PC during the installation process. * PASSPORT Full Installation from a Local Shared Drive ---------------------------------------------------- 1. Copy an image of the PASSPORT 6.1 CD to a network local shared drive. For example, L:\PASSPORT 2. Create a CONFIG directory under the directory L:\PASSPORT 3. Copy desired PASSPORT configuration files into CONFIG directory. L:\PASSPORT\DISK1 \DISK2 \DISK3 \CONFIG\*.zws \*.mac \*.hot : 4. Install PASSPORT on local PC from network local shared drive by running L:\PASSPORT\DISK1\SETUP.EXE. 5. Configuration files in the CONFIG directory will be copied to the PC during the installation process. -------------------------------------------------------------- Note: * Even when automatic /a installation method is used, configuration files will still be copied during installation if a CONFIG directory exists. * Configuration files must be created and saved using an active session of PASSPORT. Once configuration files are created, they may be copied to the CONFIG directory. PASSPORT CONFIGURATION FILES ------------------------------------- File File Edit Ext Type Function File? ------------------------------------- *.ZWS Binary User Settings No *.ZCC Text User Settings Yes *.KBD Binary Keyboard No *.MAC Text Macro Yes *.HOT Binary Hot Spot No *.ZTB Binary Tool Bar No *.KPD Binary Key Pad No -------------------------------------------------------------------- PASSPORT TN3270E Client for Windows 95/NT Enhancements for Version 6.0-2413 (April 13, 1998) -------------------------------------------------------------------- TN3270E Client Keep Alive Function ---------------------------------- The TN3270E Client Keep Alive function provides the ability for PASSPORT to send keep alive messages back to the TN3270E server. This can be useful if you leave PASSPORT idle for extended periods of time. If the TN3270E Server does not receive keep alive messages from PASSPORT it may decide to close the session, resulting in a blank screen with a Tn? or Te? on the OIA line. The TN3270E keep alive function is configured using in the Communication->Setup menu command in the Miscellaneous property sheet page. File Transfer Windows ANSI Code Page 1252 Support ------------------------------------------------- The Windows ANSI code page 1252 support has been added to this version of PASSPORT for file transfer. This is now the default PC code page for PASSPORT file transfer. Previously, the default PC code page was 437. There are minor differences between code page 437 and 1252, primarily with the extended character set. Code Page 1252 provides exact file transfer of all characters between host code Page 037 and Windows ANSI code page 1252. If you have extended characters not transferring correctly in a previous version of PASSPORT, this version corrects the problem. This only applies to text file transfer, and does not apply to binary file transfer. Session Manager Switching Support for Extended Attributes --------------------------------------------------------- Whenever a session manager is used to switch mainframe sessions, the session manager uses the 3270 Read Buffer command to read the entire contents of the screen. Extended attributes are also read which includes all characters and character attributes. PASSPORT now returns all extended attribute information to the session manager software. This enables the host session manager to correctly restore the 3270 screen at a later time. Previously, the session manager may have restored corrupt screens with large portions of the screen underlined or in reverse video. This is rarely an issue with session manager programs such as Candle Super Session, TUBES, GT ASSIST and other session managers. VPS LU-Type 1 Printer Session Compatibility ------------------------------------------- This version of PASSPORT provides compatibility with the VPS/TCPIP product from Levi, Ray and Shoup. This host based enterprise print management software provides host printing to TN3270E clients. The VPS product requires the use of transparent printer session support that PASSPORT provides. X SYSTEM and Blank Screen ------------------------- In rare situations the X SYSTEM may remain on the OIA line followed by a blank screen. This is caused by the 2-byte End of Record indicator spanning chained buffers. This problem has been resolved. HLLAPI Compatibility with Mobius -------------------------------- The HLLAPI functions 11 (Reserve) and 12 (Release) are now implemented. This provides compatibility with the Mobius HLLAPI application. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements for Version 6.0-1206 (February 6, 1998) -------------------------------------------------------------------- TN3270E Host Printer Sessions ----------------------------- IBM 3287 LU Type 1 and LU Type 3 printer sessions are now supported. Printer sessions can be configured using either a specific device LU name or associated with a display device LU name. Printer transparency, printer setup strings, print to disk, font selection and page size selection are some of the many features found in the PASSPORT TN3270E host printer session. TN3270E SLP Load Balancing -------------------------- Zephyr is proud to be the first 3270 emulation company to implement TN3270E SLP (Service Location Protocol) load balancing. SLP is a new IETF standards track co-authored by IBM and Zephyr. Working in conjunction with IBM and Novell, PASSPORT supports the SLP load balancing feature found in IntranetWare for SAA version 3.0. This feature provides the capability for PASSPORT to connect to the least loaded TN3270E server, thus providing optimum performance and response time for all TN3270E clients. Although load balancing is the primary feature of SLP for TN3270E, even a single TN3270E SLP LAN gateway could be recognized as a network device using this standard. For more information on SLP visit http://www.zephyrcorp.com. TN3270E Hot Host Back-up ------------------------ This feature provides the capability to configure a list of available Host IP addresses for the PASSPORT TN3270E Client to connect to. If the first Host IP Address is not available, PASSPORT then attempts to connect to the next Host IP Address in the list, until the entire list is exhausted. If the connection to a host is lost and auto-reconnect is enabled, PASSPORT then attempts to connect to the next Host IP Address in the list. Mouse Customization ------------------- The single click and double click functions for both the left and right mouse buttons can be fully customized. There are special PASSPORT functions that can be assigned to the mouse including hotspot detect, (see below) move cursor and send ENTER key, and light pen emulation. Also, any 3270 key can be assigned to a mouse button, and a mouse button configured to execute a PASSPORT macro. Hotspots and Hotspot Customization ---------------------------------- PASSPORT provides the ability to detect certain areas of a screen as hotspot areas. These hotspot areas are typical text strings such as ENTER, PF1, CLEAR, and so forth. The user can move the mouse to the top of this text and double click a mouse button which instructs PASSPORT to send the appropriate 3270 key back to the host. Hotspots can be made visible or invisible. If visible, the hotspot text will appear similar to a Windows dialog box button that indicates the text is a hotspot. Also, the list of hotspot text strings can be customized and configured to execute a PASSPORT macro. Tool Bar Customization ---------------------- The PASSPORT tool bar can be fully customized using the standard Microsoft MFC tool bar customization class. Most menu commands can be added to the tool bar with an associated icon button. The tool bar can be displayed using either small or large icons. The icons can be configured to be either the look and feel of the old style buttons or the new flat style Microsoft Office. Cursor Blink ------------ The cursor can be configured to be either a blinking or solid block cursor, or either a blinking or solid underlined cursor. Cursor Ruler ------------ The cursor ruler provides a full screen cross hair that is useful when performing data entry functions or lining up text in rows and columns on the screen. The default PASSPORT keyboard map uses the Ctrl + Home key combination to toggle the cursor ruler off and on. Cursor Toggle During Insert Mode -------------------------------- PASSPORT can be configured to toggle the cursor between a block and underlined cursor whenever the INSERT key is pressed. Visually, this provides a better indication that the terminal is in insert mode. Select Areas of Text Using Keyboard Shifted Arrow Keys ------------------------------------------------------ The shifted arrow keys can be used to select a rectangular area of text. This selected area of text can then be cut or copied to the Windows clipboard using the Ctrl + "X" or Ctrl + "C" keys respectively. Jump directly to a Session Using Keyboard Keys ---------------------------------------------- PASSPORT provides 26 key combinations that can be used to jump directly from one session to another. The default PASSPORT keyboard map provides the ability to press the Ctrl + Alt + the session short name for the session that you wish to jump to. For example: Ctrl + Alt + C causes you to jump to Session C. VBScript Compatibility with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 ----------------------------------------------------------- PASSPORT 5.0 macros will not run if Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 was installed on the same machine. This is because PASSPORT 5.0 ships with version 2.0 of the Vbscript.dll and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 ships with version 3.0 of the Vbscript.dll. PASSPORT 6.0 now ships with version 3.1 of the vbscript.dll and is also fully compatible with version 3.0 of the vbscript.dll. Dynamic Screen Size Configuration --------------------------------- PASSPORT now supports the TN3270E device type IBM-DYNAMIC. This allows PASSPORT to accept and dynamically configure itself to all the standard 3270 screen sizes: model 2 (80 x 24), model 3 (80 x 32), model 4 (80 x 43) and model 5 (132 x 27). This feature can be used to ease the administrative burden of matching the screen size parameters for the terminal emulation sessions with the LU definitions for the TN3270E server and host VTAM tables. Host Connection Time-out Parameter ---------------------------------- PASSPORT now allows the host connection time-out parameter to be configured. Previously, this value was set to 30 seconds. When PASSPORT connects to a Host IP Address, PASSPORT will wait this amount of time for a response from that Host IP Address. If a response is not received within that amount of time, PASSPORT issues an error message. If PASSPORT is configured for Hot Back-up, PASSPORT then attempts to connect to the next Host IP Address configured in the Hot Back-up list. Automatic Reset of X Inhibit Condition Using Arrow Keys ------------------------------------------------------- Previously, whenever an X inhibit condition was displayed in the OIA (Operator Information Area) on the bottom of the 3270 screen, the RESET key was used to clear the inhibit condition and allow normal data entry again. Now, the use of any arrow key also resets the X inhibit condition and moves the cursor as well. This feature has been added as a convenience. Documentation Section on Using PASSPORT --------------------------------------- The On-line User Guide and Technical Reference has been expanded and a complete section on Using PASSPORT has been added. The Using PASSPORT section contains step-by-step task-oriented instructions on how to perform certain PASSPORT functions, such as using the mouse, using the keyboard, using file transfer, using macros, and other emulator functions. This chapter is written for the novice PASSPORT user and can reduce the number of corporate help desk calls received at your company. Knowledge Base Located on Web Site ---------------------------------- Zephyr has added a knowledge base that covers advanced questions and problems that may be common to several corporate sites. This information is updated frequently and can solve many issues that a corporate technical support person may encounter. The Zephyr knowledge base can be accessed at the following URL: http://www.zephyrcorp.com/techsupport/knowledge.html Technical Notes Located on Web Site ----------------------------------- Zephyr also provides detailed information on TN3270, TN3270E, configuring various TN3270E servers, and many other detailed application notes. Zephyr Technical Notes can be accessed at the following URL: http://www.zephyrcorp.com/techsupport/technotes.html Technical Support Using Web Site -------------------------------- If you should encounter a problem using PASSPORT, problems can be submitted to Zephyr Technical Support through the Zephyr web site. A new HLLAPI DLL called PASHLL16.DLL is supplied with this release of the software. For more information see the "Programming with HLLAPI" section in the "Technical Reference" of the On-line Documentation. Print Screen to Disk File Function ---------------------------------- A macro file called PRT2FILE.MAC is provided to capture the contents of the PASSPORT terminal emulation window into a disk file. This macro can be run from the Macro-run command menu or can be assigned to a keyboard key, keypad button, or toolbar button. ATTENTION Key Macro for Super Session and IBM Mainframe TCP/IP -------------------------------------------------------------- A macro file called SSATTN.MAC is provided to implement the 3270 ATTENTION key correctly when the Super Session session manager software is used in conjunction with either the IBM VM TCP/IP or IBM MVS TCP/IP host software. There is a conflict with Super Session, IBM mainframe TCP/IP and VTAM that may be corrected in the future. This macro resolves the problem. The macro can be assigned to a keyboard key, keypad button, toolbar button or run from the Macro-Run command menu. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements for Version 5.0-929 (September 29, 1997) -------------------------------------------------------------------- End-of-line Key --------------- PASSPORT now supports the End-of-line key. This key causes the cursor to be moved to the first blank character after the last text character on the current line. The default PASSPORT keyboard map uses the End-key to perform this function. The Ctrl + End key is now used for the 3270 Erase-end-of-field function. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Trademark Information --------------------- EXTRA!
