PASSPORT Pricing and Licensing Questions

What is the difference between per seat and concurrent licensing?

Per seat licensing means for each desktop PC system that executes the software program, there is one unit of software licensed.

Concurrent licensing means multiple users can use the same software license as long as they are not all using the same license at the same time.

In some cases, depending on host access user habits, there is no difference between per seat and concurrent licensing. For example, if you license software for 100 users, and each user works from 8:00am to 5:00pm and each user logs onto the host and stays logged on the entire work day, there is no difference between per seat and concurrent licensing in this case. Either way, you would need 100 licenses.

However, if your users sporadically access the host system, perhaps one or two hours a day at different times of the day, you may get 2:1, 3:1 or even a 10:1 ratio of users to software licenses needed.

The price for concurrent use licensing for PASSPORT WEB TO HOST® is two times the price of per seat licensing. The server component fee is not doubled.

How is PASSPORT licensed when published from a Citrix Presentation Server or Microsoft Terminal Server?

Some 30% of PASSPORT PC TO HOST users access the Zephyr terminal emulation software from a Citrix platform. Any user with access to the appropriate terminal server can use PASSPORT without having to install and run the software on their local workstation. This model can deliver considerable savings in terms of application delivery and management.

This convenience, however, does not eliminate the requirement to secure a software license for each concurrent user that runs the Zephyr application. Every desktop that accesses PASSPORT must acquire either a perpetual or subscription license of the Zephyr software.

Can I use PASSPORT on my home PC or laptop after I leave the office, and is there a charge?

Provided that your organization has a valid license for the use of PASSPORT on your corporate or organizational PC, Zephyr allows you to use PASSPORT on your home PC or laptop at no charge.

Do you offer concurrent use licensing for PASSPORT PC TO HOST?

Unless you're deploying PASSPORT PC TO HOST using a Citrix Presentation Server, PASSPORT PC TO HOST is licensed on a per seat basis. To deploy PASSPORT on a Citrix server, you must acquire a Citrix license key from Zephyr and concurrent use licensing is featured.
