Title
Enter or Return Key Not Working
Product
PASSPORT PC to Host, PASSPORT Web to Host
Emulation Types
TN3270, TN5250, VT, SCO ANSI, Wyse 60
Issue
The Enter or Return key on the keyboard does not submit data to the host as expected.
Solution
This is normally a keyboard mapping issue caused when a keyboard map is selected, which does not have the ENTER (TN3270, TN5250) or RETURN (VT, SCO-ANSI, Wyse-60) function mapped to the Enter key on the keyboard. To resolve this you must customize the current keyboard map.
For PASSPORT PC to Host:
- Start and connect a PASSPORT session.
- Choose the Options®Keyboard menu command.
- Click the Customize button:
- Select the Enter key on the keyboard map:
- Make sure Normal is selected and click the Edit button.
- Choose the Host Key Category then select ENTER or RETURN from the Host Keys list.
- Click OK twice.
- Type a new keyboard map name or select an existing one from the list then click Save.
- Click OK to save.
For PASSPORT Web to Host Client:
The instructions are the same as those for PC to Host
For PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator:
- Start the PASSPORT Web to Host Administrator application.
- Select the Keyboard section for the appropriate emulation type (3270, 5250, VT or Wyse).
- Open an existing or create a new Keyboard map by right-clicking and choosing New:
- Select the Enter key on the keyboard map.
- Make sure Normal is selected and click the Edit button.
- Choose the Host Key Category then select ENTER or RETURN from the Host Keys list:
- Click OK twice to save.
- Open the session profile.
- Select the Options tab.
- Make sure the keyboard map configured above is highlighted then click OK to save or Connect to test.
More Information
-
The different default keyboard maps that are available in PASSPORT may have the ENTER or RETURN function mapped to different keys on the keyboard. For example, the IBM keyboard map has ENTER mapped to the right Ctrl key for a TN3270 session. To determine what key on the keyboard the RETURN function is mapped to, use the View®Keyboard Layout menu command from a connected session.
