Issue

How do I configure a session using an Associated LU?

Solution

An Associated LU is a display LU that has been further configured to have an Associated Printer LU on the server. This allows a printer connection to a dedicated LU pair that contain both display or printer LU definitions. Associated LUs can be used to ease the configuration burden of the mainframe TN3270E administrator when both display and printer sessions are required by the end-user. The printer session is connected to the printer LU definition.

If you select the Associated option, you must also enter the Resource Name that corresponds to the name of the dedicated LU pair. The Resource Name is the device or pool name used to identify and establish a connection to a specific LU, LU pool or associate LU. Your system administrator must give you the correct information to enter here.

For PASSPORT PC to Host:

  1. With your session disconnected, select Setup from the Communication menu

  2. Select the radio button next to Specific.
  3. Enter the appropriate Resource Name.
  4. Click Connect to connect to the session.

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

From the Administrator:

  1. Open an existing or create a new session profile
  2. On the Connection tab, select Specific.

  3. Enter the appropriate Resource Name.
  4. Click OK to save or Connect to test.
