Emulation Types

Issue

I need to output a print job to a file on my workstation. Is this possible with PASSPORT?

Solution

A Windows printer should be installed on the workstation, where the port is configured as FILE. "Generic/Text" should be used as the print driver to avoid printing extra printer codes. Then this printer should be selected as the output printer from the PASSPORT printer session.  Follow the steps below to do this on a Windows XP workstation:

  1. Go to Control Panel®Printers and Faxes
  2. Click on Add a Printer and follow the wizard to add a LOCAL printer.
  3. Select FILE: (Print to File) for the printer port.
  4. Select Generic/Text for the printer driver.
  5. Enter a name for the newly created printer.
  6. From the PASSPORT printer session, make sure you select this printer as the output printer by right-clicking on the printer and select Set as Output.
