Error 1721 occurred during PASSPORT PC to Host installation

Issue

During the PASSPORT PC to Host installation, I am receiving an error referring to a missing file with a code of Error 1721.  How can this be resolved?

Solution

This error that you are receiving is related to a Windows Installer Service error as described in the Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891985

Please take the following steps below:

1. Try running a different MSI file on the same PC.
2. If you're getting the same result, you will need to re-register the Windows Installer service as described in the article above.
3. If you are performing an upgrade from a previous version, uninstall the previous version first, and then install the latest version.
