Title

Print Out Splits Into Multiple Pages

Product

PASSPORT PC to Host, PASSPORT Web to Host

Emulation Types

TN3270

Issue

My PASSPORT printer session is continuously splitting printouts (without filling up the page) into multiple pages. How can I prevent this from happening?

Solution

The printed page split is due to the End of Print Jobs that are sent from the host to the printer session.  By design, PASSPORT will handle these print jobs by performing a printout each time it receives an End of Print Job from the host.  In order to prevent multiple printouts, the following changes should be made to the printer session:

FOR PASSPORT PC to Host:

  1. Click File®Page Setup.
  2. Un-check the TN3270E EOJ option.
  3. Check Detect End of Print Job Using Time-out Value and put 10 seconds (This number may vary, depending on how much data you have in your print buffer. It can be estimated from the low level trace).

For PASSPORT Web to Host:

From the client:

Instructions are the same as those for PASSPORT PC to Host.

From the Administrator:

  2. Expand the 3270 Printer icon.
  3. Right-click on Sessions and select New.
  4. Enter a new Session Profile name.
  5. Click on the Printer Setup tab and un-check the TN3270E EOJ option.
  6. Check Detect End of Print Job Using Time-out Value and put 10 seconds (This number may vary, depending on how much data you have in your print buffer. It can be estimated from the low level trace).
  7. Click OK to save.
  8. Open the appropriate 3270 printer session profile.
  9. Click Connect to save and test.
