Issue

Why is using Generic LU type with Printer Sessions not recommended?

Solution

The reason it is not recommended is because you would need a dedicated server for supplying nothing but printer LU’s.  When you choose GENERIC LU type, PASSPORT uses the first available LU on the server and cannot distinguish between printer and display LU’s.

 

If you set up a dedicated server and configured only printer LU’s you could choose the GENERIC option.
